I believe that writing, at its best, helps us make sense of ourselves and the world around us.
As an editor, my mission is to support writers doing just that: telling stories, advancing ideas, and building bridges. Whether your writing challenges norms, stirs empathy or sparks change, I'd be honored to support your journey with edits that champion both craft and courage.
For over 15 years, I’ve specialized in literary and historical fiction, memoir, anthologies, and nonfiction projects with heart, edge, and impact. If your goal is to make readers feel something—and maybe even think differently—I’m here for it.
My editorial path began at Bennington College, where I earned my MFA in Creative Writing and studied with Pulitzer Prize nominees and National Book Award winners. They taught me to listen closely, revise ruthlessly, and sharpen every sentence until it sings.
Since then, I've worn a lot of hats: founding editor of a literary journal, columnist for the Herald Union, and now, consulting editor with Tupelo Press and the Vermont Historical Society.
At Tupelo, I edit writing guides authored by experts in the field, as well as essays on craft and the writing life by established authors. I also recently collaborated with the Vermont Historical Society on a moving anthology about the impact of COVID-19 in Vermont, compiled by Pulitzer nominee Garrett M. Graff.
One of my most meaningful editorial experiences came in 2012, when I prepared a human rights statement for delivery at the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of the Aramean people. That project reminded me that editorial precision isn’t just about grammar—it’s about promoting dignity and truth on a global stage.
As a writer myself, I know what it’s like to hand over a draft—equal parts proud and panicked—and hope it lands in the right hands. For years, I served as a literary moderator at St. Mark’s Cultural Center in Florence, Italy, hosting panels with agents, editors, and publishers to help emerging authors navigate the publishing world. I know the game—and how to help you play it.
My own work has received many rejections and accolades. It has been chosen as a finalist for the Annie Dillard Award for Creative Nonfiction, awarded publication by Pudding House Press, and shortlisted for Perigee’s contest judged by National Book Critics Circle Award winner Judy Jordan. My work also won Oxford University’s Traveling Scholar prize in Art History.
If you’re looking for a thoughtful, collaborative editor who will respect your vision, challenge you when needed, and nerd out over structure, syntax, and semicolons—I’d love to connect.
Let’s talk about your book!
